Change at the top of the IT Master's program - New impetus for the course

Martin Setnicka, BA MA MSc PhD will take over the management of the Master's degree program in Information Technology at Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH on 16 October 2024. He follows Peter Völkl, BA MA MSc.

Martin Setnicka, BA MA MSc PhD will head the master's degree program in Information Technology in mid-October. He takes over from Peter Völkl, BA MA MSc, who is taking on a new, responsible role outside the university landscape after more than eight years.

Setnicka emphasizes that it is an honor for him to take over the management of the master's degree course. He sees it as his task to further develop the program and provide new impetus. ‘My predecessor created a strong foundation on which we can build in order to continue pursuing innovative paths,’ says Setnicka. His aim is to continue to align the degree program with current technological developments and to provide students with the skills they need to be successful in a dynamic IT world.

The new program director also has clear plans for the future: he wants to continuously adapt the degree program to the changing requirements of the working world and focus on resilience and adaptability. ‘Our graduates should be able to react flexibly to rapid technological and social changes and develop innovative solutions,’ explains Setnicka.

A master's program with its finger on the pulse

The master’s degree in Information Technology started at Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH in autumn 2024 and is a further development of the Master's degree course in Information Systems. The newly designed course offers a specialized and practice-oriented education with five future-oriented specializations. Students can choose between the areas of Data Science & AI, Web Software Engineering, IT Security, E-Commerce and Business Informatics in order to expand their expertise in a targeted manner. With numerous electives and individual subjects, the master's degree program allows students to flexibly and individually design their own qualification profile. As a part-time distance learning program, the master's is aimed in particular at those who wish to gain further qualifications in the IT sector alongside their professional activities.

Ferdinand Porsche FERNFH is looking forward to working with the new program director and wishes him every success in his new role!
