What economic and psychological factors influence our daily environmentally friendly behavior? How does this behaviour affect our mood? And do people really put their intention to reduce their meat consumption into practice? These and other questions will be examined in detail during the lecture by Prof. Dr. Leonhard K. Lades on May 15. Join us and find out more!

Changing the behaviour of individuals and households is an important goal in mitigating climate change. However, knowledge about the determinants and consequences of environmentally friendly behaviour is still limited. Prof. Dr. Leonhard Lades will address this topic in his lecture, presenting the results of various studies that have investigated this behaviour in everyday lives. He uses the “Day Reconstruction Method", a survey instrument that focuses on specific moments in everyday life and asks the study participants about their activities and their emotional state. In addition, economic and psychological factors that predict everyday pro-environmental behaviour are analysed by examining whether people have higher or lower levels of happiness at the times when they perform pro-environmental actions. Furthermore, the reasons why people often refrain from reducing their meat consumption despite their intention to do so are explained.
